Team ManagerGreg Clowes (17/02/12)

We look forward to this weeks home game v Ashton Utd.

The lads as per normal have shown excellent team spirit and togetherness in training this week and we hope we can build on our home form which has seen 6 points come from our last 3 games.

I must mention our home form as this will have to be improved on immensely next season if we are to progress in this league. More importantly we have 7 home games left this term in the form of Ashton, Northwich, Bradford Park Avenue, Buxton, Chasetown, Burscough & Nantwich where we will be looking for as many points as possible from these games.
However, we come up against an improved Ashton team who will be coming here to gain a win to help them steer away from danger and will want revenge from a 5-1 Rangers win in October courtesy of a Streety hat trick.

Our mini unbeaten run came to an end at, in my opinion champions elect Chester, in front of 2300 fans last week. I felt that the first half we did ok but I was looking for an improvement in the 2nd half which didn’t come. We ended up conceding a big deflected goal and a free header late on, but over the 90 minutes I felt that Readie, the back four and Carzy were ok, but had to cut some slack to the front pair who had no service.

All afternoon against an excellent Chester team, the biggest disappointment for me was our passing. This was poor after being decent recently, and when you play teams of the calibre of Chester, you have to keep the ball as much as you can!

I attended the Hednesford v Stoke City game on Tuesday to take a look at some players. After speaking to Stoke after the game I will be watching Stoke v Crewe on Saturday morning with a possible opportunity of bringing someone in on loan.

Doz went to watch Northwich in the Trophy and came back with a very good report on them as we play them in ten days.

Mick Hathaway will be taking most of the training sessions on Tuesdays now as Doz & myself will be busy taking in 2 games each per week.

SQUAD FOR ASHTON.

READ, ALCOCK
DONNELLEY, GEORGE, ESPLEY, DICKER, BROWN
HELER, BLACKHURST, MAGUIRE, MORTON, CARR, STREET, SKELTON, SHELDON.
NAGINGTON, STEVENSON, MORRIS.

Finally the support at Chester last week was excellent, I only wish we could have put in a better performance to send you all home happy again.

Greg
