Roly Tonge today announced his retirement as a director of Stafford Rangers Football Club Limited after 33 years on the Board.
He became a director on 23rd September, 1981 and he has been a fantastic ambassador for the Club.
'His contribution has been magnificent in every area and we will miss him' states Mike Hughes.
Mr Tonge (89) comments ' I am aware that considerable change is taking place within the Club and I think it is both time and appropriate for younger people to pick up and take on the challenge of running the Club and helping the Club to achieve its potential'.
As a successful local businessman his input over the years has been vital and his generosity has supported Stafford Rangers through some difficult times. In a gesture, typical of Roly Tonge, he has confirmed that it was always his intention, from the date of each payment, to gift all the loans he made to the Club.
Mike Hughes comments 'We are so grateful to Roly for his quite magnificent gesture which will help to ensure the stability of the football club as we rebuild for the future'.
Mr Tonge has aked us to thank everyone associated with the Club both past and present ,including supporters, staff and shareholders, for the work they all do in supporting the Club.
Stafford Rangers would like to thank Roly for everything he has done and we wish him and his wife, June, the very best for the future. We will be finding a way to ensure that his name is never forgotten and he is intrinsically linked with the football club forever.
