Dinning began his career at Newcastle United before moving to Stockport County in June 1994 where he spent six successful years.
In September 2000, he moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers for £700,000. He stayed at Wolves for less than a year before moving to Wigam Athletic for £750,000.
He then moved on to Stoke City on loan playing in their play-off victory.
He returned to Wigan and helped them to promotion. A number of loan moves followed before he joined Port Vale permanently in May 2006.
After a short return to Stockport County he moved to Chester City. He moved into non league football with Grays Athletic and Gateshead and at the start of this season joined local rivals Hednesford Town.
Injuries have restricted his appearances this season, but now fit again, he has joined Rangers bringing with him a wealth of experience.
