The inaugural season for the Rangers U18s has seen them challenge for the top spot in the Midland Junior Floodlit League, Western Division with games in-hand in the lead up to Christmas. The squad consists of players who have previously played for Rangers throughout the various youth age groups in the Midland Junior Premier League and provides a pathway for Rangers youngsters to continue their connection to the club. Already this season Taylor Allen has made his debut for the first team against Sutton Coldfield Town and 6 of the current U16’s have played up 2 years to gain invaluable experience playing with the U18s and playing at the Marston Road stadium.
Sponsored by the Hollybush, the U18s are managed by Mick Baikie and Shaun Woolley, two past Rangers U16 managers, with support from Tim Turner the current U16 manager. The squad aims to continue the players’ connection to Rangers with hopes that some may make it to the senior squad. It’s a competitive league containing clubs with full time academies like Solihull Moors FC, but they have made an encouraging start playing a positive brand of football.
Home fixtures are typically on Thursday evenings, 7.45pm kick off. Rangers fans are more than welcome to come and support the Rangers youngsters.
