Back Us ! – Says Belford

Dale Belford

Dale Belford has urged Stafford Rangers supporters to get behind his side on Saturday against Workington AFC after victory at Bamber Bridge.

Sean Cooke and Connor Heath’s second-half goals supplied the Rangers with their win, and the Boro moved to three points adrift from safety. The 2-0 victory was also the Rangers’ first clean sheet since Boxing Day and their fourth of the season so far.

With six games remaining this season, Dave Cooke’s assistant sent a message to the fans saying: “We need every fan possible to get behind us now and let’s get to where we want to on April 27th at 5 o’clock.

“It’s been a difficult season, we’ve been in and around this position all season. People who’ve been here all season have become conditioned to it. I’ve been in this position a few times and got out of it. I’m confident and I’m hoping that we’re going to do the same.

“But, for us to do that we have to have everybody pulling in the right direction and in the same direction. Saturday we’ve got a home tie against a team who are very good. I think they were well worthy of beating us at their place, but we need everybody who is a Stafford fan to get around and support the lads because they need it.

“The fans today were fantastic and when we needed it we were digging in and the fans have come on the road and supported us. We need as many people through the gate on Saturday and if it doesn’t go as well as we want it to to start with, keep getting behind the team.”
