Update from David Smith

Dear Supporters,

I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the recent spell of warm summer weather.

As we approach our first home friendly of the pre-season, I wanted to take a moment to welcome you all back and thank you for your continued support as valued shareholders, sponsors, season ticket holders and fans of Stafford Rangers FC.

It has been a long time since our last home fixture, and we are delighted to return to action at home this Tuesday, 14th July, when we host Shrewsbury Town.

Please note the revised kick-off time of 7:15pm. Gates will be open from 6pm.

This is quickly followed with home friendlies against Bedworth United on Saturday 25th July at 3pm and AFC Telford on Tuesday 28th July, KO 7.45pm with our final home match welcoming Coleshill Town on Saturday 1st August, KO 3pm.

Admissions prices for these games will be as follows:

General Admission £5, Concessions/Over 65 £3 and under 18’s £1. Free for Season ticket holder for 2026/27 season.

Squad Overhaul

The summer months have seen a significant overhaul of the playing squad, with many new faces set to wear our famous black and white shirts. I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all our new players as they begin their journey with the club. At the same time, it is important to place on record our sincere thanks to those players who have moved on. Their efforts, commitment and contribution to Stafford Rangers FC are greatly appreciated, and we wish them every success for the future.

With 2 wins already under our belt, it promises to be a mouth-watering pre-season, and I am pleased to report that training has been going exceptionally well. The fitness levels and intensity shown by the players have been first class, giving us all great optimism for the campaign ahead.

Season Ticket Sales

Season ticket sales have been very encouraging and have comfortably surpassed last year’s numbers, and like you, I am eagerly anticipating the start of the new season. For those who have purchased, tickets will be available to collect from the ground throughout Monday and Tuesday ahead of the game.

Ground Improvements

There has also been an immense amount of work taking place off the pitch. Improvements include a new stand roof, modernised toilet facilities including a disabled toilet, as well as repairs and general enhancements to the grandstand. More improvements will be in place before the start of the league campaign to further enhance the overall matchday experience for all supporters. The pitch itself is looking in very good condition, although it has required considerable additional watering during the recent dry spell to ensure it is ready for play. In addition, the Stan Robinson room and Chairman room  have under gone significant refurbishment and the home dressing is unrecognisable from last season.

World Cup viewing in the Social Club

Away from the pitch, it has been fantastic to see the club so well supported during the World Cup. The Social Club has been buzzing with activity, including nearly 70 supporters joining us at 3am for the Mexico game.

We will also be showing the semi-final again this Wednesday at 8pm and you are all very welcome to come along and enjoy the atmosphere.

Work in progress

I would classify the Club as “positive work in progress” we are moving quickly to improve structure throughout your club and deliver the results needed on and off the pitch.

Join us

I do hope you can join us on Tuesday evening as we begin our home pre-season journey together.

Once again it’s a 7.15pm kick off time. Access to all fans will be through the main gates to the left-hand side of the office as due to ongoing ground works the turnstiles will be closed.

Warm regards,

David Smith
