In the early days of lockdown and the formation of the Business Continuity Group one of the pleasures we had was to submit Eric Robins name to the FA, who were running a competition for Volunteer of The Year. We knew that Eric was a great candidate for the award due to his fantastic efforts over many years and Alan Gee submitted the official nomination.
His nomination led the Staffs FA to carry out some additional research on Eric and all he had done for Stafford Rangers. This culminated in Eric receiving not the volunteer of the year award but the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the Club today, from Staffordshire FA representative Gareth Thomas. The Business Continuity Group together with Director Carol Bailey surprised Eric at the ground who was presented with a framed certificate from the FA in recognition of his fantastic efforts and achievements. An official awards ceremony will be carried out by Staffs FA at the earliest opportunity.
Eric, as modest as ever but thrilled by the award stated ‘I can only do what I do with the support of the fans and all the people at the club’
Everyone who goes to Marston Road knows Eric and knows that his fundraising efforts are legendary and we are all so proud of not just what he has done but the way in which he goes about things.
We all congratulate him for achieving such wonderful recognition from the regional governing body and know you will join us in applauding Eric’s loyalty and efforts on what was a special day for us all.
