Preview

After securing another hard earned point last weekend, Stafford Rangers will be aiming to stretch their unbeaten league run to six matches on Saturday as they entertain Trafford F.C at the Stan Robinson Stadium, in the NPL West.

After keeping a fourth clean sheet in six games at Mossley, Neil Kitching’s men will be keen to continue this solid defensive form against a side currently bottom of the table.

This has been designated as our Remembrance Day fixture as we come together to remember those who have fallen and respect those that still serve. The game will be preceded by a one minute silence as we all show our respect and thanks. We will be placing a wreath from ourselves and the military on the pitch.

To mark the day, we are offering free access to all military personnel on production of an ID card and providing a £3.00 pint within the Chairmans Suite in recognition of their service. The military have a large presence in the vicinity, and we want to come together to demonstrate unity as a community.

Team News

Rangers will hope to have Ben O’Hanlon and Jack Sherratt back fit, Dan Cockerline and Mason Rees remain sidelined with hamstring injuries.

The Opposition

After a 9th place finish last season, Saturday’s opponents Trafford have found life tough going so far this season, and find themselves rock bottom with just 6 points from their sixteen games played. This poor start prompted the Greater Manchester side to part ways with manager Karl Marginson and bring in Tom Baker, to try and turn round the club’s fortune. Baker’s reign got off to a positive start last weekend as they came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at home to Shifnal Town, goals from Prosper Imar and Sean Higgins salvaging a much needed point in front of 294 at Shawe View.

Trafford have yet to win on their travels this term, earning just 2 points from 8 matches, but with a new manager in charge and several new signings, Rangers’ will be expecting another tough battle.

Last Time We Met

There was late drama at the Shawe View Stadium back in March, an injury time strike from Jimmy O’Neill securing the points for the Boro’ in a 2-1 win, in front of a crowd of 654.
