But I would walk 2,400 miles
Over the 12 months from 1st October 2023 – during which he will celebrate his 78th birthday – John Macmillan, the chairman of our charity, Stafford Rangers in the Community, is going to walk SIX MILLION PACES – roughly 2,400 miles or 92 marathons or Land’s End to John o’ Groats and back and then back to Bristol – to raise money for sports camps.
In August, we held our first sports camp which was completely free and included a cooked lunch every day. It lasted 4 days and attracted 65 children aged 12 and under each day. Feedback from parents was 100% positive.
“This just awesome” Kirsty L.
“It was amazing. My 2 have had a brilliant time” Melanie W.
“[My son} and his mates had the best week” Janine R.
We could only run the camp because of a £10,000 grant from the National Lottery. The cost was about £5,500 so there is just enough left to run another camp in the October half term.
John’s target is £30,000 so we can run at least 6 more camps focusing on children and adults from disadvantaged backgrounds. Will you please help by sponsoring him via his Just Giving page and spreading the word among family and friends? John will be posting bulletins about his progress every month on Stafford Rangers web site.
Many thanks for your support.
