THE JON DOWNING CHARITY MATCH

The Jon Downing Charity match took place on Sunday afternoon 22nd April.

An excellent turn out from former Rangers players was complimented by the tremendous support from the supporters and sponsors.

The two sides representing the Stafford Rangers Conference side and Stafford Rangers Legends battled it out through three 30 minutes ‘halves’ with the Legends winning by 4 goals to 1 with goals from Dan Cope (2) Paul McMahon and Dave Berks for the Legends and Craig Wilding for the Conference side.

The day was all about club President Jon Downing and the great man not only turned up and took part in photo shoot with all the players but stayed to watch the match and meet the players and supporters after the match..

The main aim was to raise money for the Motor Neurone Association, Katharine House Hospice and Jon Downing’s car park project. Thanks to support from many sources a total of well in excess £2000 was raised.

Stafford Rangers Football Club would like to thank Chris Curtis for organising the players and all the sponsors and supporters who either donated money or paid at the turnstiles on Saturday.  A big thanks you also to our caterer Marcellus Archer, who provided the players food, and to chef Mick and club manager Dana for their hard work in looking after the players post match.

And finally …. to the many people who helped out in any way towards making this Sunday such a tremendous success, a very big thank you.
