Grant secured for a brighter future
Stafford Rangers Football Club has been awarded over £30,000 by the Premier League, through the Premier League Stadium Fund, and from Staffordshire Business & Environment Network (SBEN) for a new LED Floodlight system at the Stan Robinson Stadium.
The funding, which will cover 100% of the cost of the project, will enable the club to replace their existing floodlights with a state of the art four-column 200 Lux powered system. This will fully meet the requirements of The FA National Ground Grading criteria.
The lights housed on the four existing lighting columns will be dimmable using mobile technology and will be fully focused on the pitch, thereby reducing the current light spillage that impacts local residents. The new system will also reduce the club’s running and maintenance costs as well as improve our carbon footprint. The new system should save the club in the region of £8,000 per annum based on typical usage.
Works will be carried by the FA Approved Contractors.
Ben Alcock, who spearheaded the grant application said,
“I am delighted that club is now able to install state of the art LED floodlights which will save the club money; reduce the club’s carbon footprint and minimise light pollution which will benefit our neighbours. A huge thankyou to Christina Mashall, the Environmental Support Lead at SBEN for initially identifying this cost saving measure and for giving us 30% of the grant, which we needed in place before applying for the remaining 70% funding from the FA. Thank you also to Ella Bayne at the FA for all her assistance as well”.
