This coming Tuesday (23rd October) we strangely venture South to play Lye Town in the Walsall Senior Cup. Lye were funded in 1930 and currently play in the Midland League Premier Division (step 5). As well as our own travelling fans we may find we are joined by Brocton fans as Brocton have to travel to Lye on 3rd November in the FA Vase.

Let’s hope we can catch them cold in not being used to playing at home. I am pretty sure many fans will not travel as it is the Walsall Senior Cup and we have very little idea of the side Steve will put out. Will it be a strong side to build up to our tough FA Trophy tie with Rushall coming up on Saturday, with money at stake, or will he make full use of his squad to give fringe players valuable playing time, perhaps including some of the youth team players. In any event the chance to play in the final at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium is a major boost to either side so do not be put off by Lye’s ranking. Please go along and have a good night and attempt to swell the crowd with away following. Their two home league games saw crowds of 115 and 112, but 2 of their Tuesday night cup games saw crowds of 60 and 64.
