NANTWICH TOWN 0 STAFFORD RANGERS 3
Boro put the Dabbers to the sword at Weaver Stadium, as Neil Kitching and Nick Amos bid farewell to the club, with their heads held high. Boro started brightly, and early on it was Joe
Thomas who was slipped through but Myles Boney saved. Shortly after this, Thompson-Brown was denied, as confidence grew. On ten minutes, the hosts had their first sortie into the Boro half and Mwaslie put in Clayton, who had his shot saved by Adam Whitehouse. A couple of minutes later and Danny Griggs failed to threaten Whitehouse as his shot was gathered easily.
In the sixteenth minute Thompson-Brown was slipped into the box and Cotterell brought him down for a penalty. He got up and coolly slotted home to give the Boro the lead. A few minutes later, Nantwich tried to hit back but as they broke, Clayton fired across the goal and the ball went out of play. Back to the other end and Waite went on a dangerous break but his ball across face of goal had nobody to add the finishing touch.
Craddock then sprayed one of many useful passes during the game and found Thomas, where his shot from the right was again saved. Boro were having most of the possession in the first half but chances were becoming even and Griggs put in a dangerous ball as Vann denied the incoming Clayton, before Cotterell had his shot saved and Bell’s effort was deflected wide. Just before the break Thomas went close again as Griffiths broke down the right to cut back and Boro went into the break one up.
The second half saw a powerful Boro show, as they took charge in longer spells, though the first chance of the half was when Bourne put in a cross-cum shot and Whitehouse had to take evasive action under his bar. However, on forty nine minutes Mwasile brought down Thompson-Brown as he again attacked the box and referee Smith had no hesitation in awarding Boro their second penalty. Same result and Bovey was sent the wrong way for Thompson-Brown to increase the lead. Just six minutes later Thompson-Brown was again involved as he went down the right and cut the ball across for Waite to apply a first time finish for a three nil lead. The visitors went on to control the half in long spells, while Nantwich threatened only occasionally. Teenagers Kai Davis and Lucas Burnett replaced Kyle Perry and Tyrell Waite, as the young upstarts did what they could to run the hosts ragged at times. Davis had a few dangerous runs while Burnett was unlucky as he got around the back but fired over. Nantwich man of the match Mwasile was the only late threat as he again fired wide not long before the game, and season, was drawn to a close.
