United chanced their arm with several long-range free kicks but Lewis King saved them all with great assurance. Mike Potts held United together when Stafford grew dangerous and he stuck at that role for the whole game. The second half followed a similar pattern with both sides probing for a breakthrough, while Stafford seemed to have bit more edge as the game wore on, but clear-cut chances were still rare as defences were commanding. Potts, Regan Linney and Alex Curran all had shots blocked in one attack before Stafford broke and Evan Garnett had his effort blocked, Joe Berks also shot over for Stafford while King saved a long free kick under pressure and Dan Burns nearly snatched it for the hosts at the death. In summary, both sides look defensively solid, but you sense they will both kick on to those upper echelons if they can just find that right striking combination as both sides looked dangerous but lacked that killer edge.
