The temperature rose during the game and a water break was needed just after the half hour mark. This seemed to energise the teams as both showed more urgency until the break and the half time whistle spoiled what could have been a decent spell. The second half followed a similar pattern but was lifted following another drinks break. Bramall was again denied by King before play switched ends and Andy Haworth’s shot was saved. On eighty-one minutes Matt Hill somehow lost the ball at left back and Marcus Marshall easily fired home for Matlock. Rangers tried to rally but play seemed to break down in the final third, for all of their effort. Deep into injury time, Rangers threw the ball into the Matlock box and a powerful effort struck James Williamson's arm and Mr Williams had no hesitation in awarding the penalty. Josh Green's kick was the perfect height for Jonathan Stewart and Matlock were left to celebrate a late escape.
