Summer Sports Camp is a big hit with the kids
Thanks to the super-human efforts of Community Engagement Officer and Rangers Academy coach, Andy Turner, and the grant he helped us win from the National Lottery, the first big venture by Stafford Rangers in the Community was a huge success. Supported by the five Academy lads the charity put though the FA stage 1 coaching course, Andy coached and entertained 65 youngsters from the Stafford area at the Stan Robinson Stadium for 4 hours on each of four days of the last week in August. A free lunch was provided for all of the children each day. At the end they were each given a complimentary ticket for a Rangers home game. As the scheme was such a success, we plan to repeat it in October half term week and, funds permitting, during most school holidays in the coming years.
Each Sports Camp costs the charity roughly £5,000 to put on and our National Lottery grant will only cover one more camp in October. If we are going to be able to continue with this important initiative and expand it to reach more young people and bring in more sports, we need to raise significant additional funding each year. Will you support this great scheme by making a donation, however small? You can do so by visiting our Just Giving page. If you are a UK taxpayer you can increase the value of your donation to the charity by 21% by agreeing to Gift Aid it – don’t worry, the extra money comes from the government not you!
Many thanks for your support.
Up The Boro!
