New Director Appointed

Mark Evans joins the Board

Stafford Rangers Director - Mark EvansThe Chairman and board of directors are delighted to announce that a new director has been appointed to the board of Stafford Rangers Football Club Ltd.

Mark Evans (known to some fans as Winston) joins the board with immediate effect and Chairman John Bromley states ‘We are delighted to get Mark on the team as we need some new blood and feel he will fit in really well and help us develop some new initiatives providing more support and experience’.

Mark has been supporting the club over a 20 year period but more actively during the past 5/6 years and will be a familiar face to fans within the stadium and social club on matchdays. He has many years’ experience in business in both the building trade and for the last 6 years operating a business in Rugeley where he sells Ribbons worldwide. The company also provides Embroidery and Printing services.

He has been Chair of Great Haywood Sports & Social Club for the last 5 years and is proud that the changes they have made since pre pandemic has made the establishment financially sustainable. In his little spare time, he is a member of the Rottweiler Welfare Association which he has supported for over 6 years.

He has been interested in local sports all his life and now wanted to get formally involved with grass roots non-league football at his beloved Rangers.

I recognise that this will be a challenge but I am up for the role and feel I can bring innovative ideas to the board and use my business and hospitality experience to deliver them as part of the club’s strategy going forward. I believe strongly in what the football club brings to the community, and I want to be a part of the Rangers set up. I am delighted to join the board’ states Mark.

We wish Mark the absolute best of luck for the future and warmly welcome him to the team!

We are delighted Mark has strengthened the board, but we are still looking for more directors to help. If you have a hunger to help the club and feel you could be effective and make a difference, please send us a CV telling us all about yourself and why you want to join us. Please email this to chair@staffordrangersfc.co.uk.

Archie King Remembered

Archie King

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our former assistant manager, Archie King.

Archie King came to Stafford Rangers in the summer of 1998 as assistant to the newly appointed manager Ian Painter.

He was a multi talented sportsman and represented England U17s in basketball but it was in the sport of football where Archie is widely remembered.

He played for a number of clubs in and around the Black Country region. Starting at Darlaston, he went on to play for Hednesford, Stourbridge, Willenhall, Dudley and Bilston.

The Painter – King team stayed together at Stafford for four seasons, winning the Dr Martens League Western Division in 2000 and setting a new club record of 23 league games unbeaten in the process.

Although the best of his playing days were behind him, King did make the odd appearance when duty called. His long awaited debut came a month after his 41st birthday as a substitute in the 2-0 win at Weymouth in April 2001. He went on to make two more substitute appearances that season and another at the end of the following season.

The Painter – King duo left Stafford at the end of the 2002 season and, shortly afterwards, were appointed in similar roles at Hednesford Town where King was credited with spotting the potential in a young defender by the name of Ashley Williams. Williams went on to have a successful professional career and also captained Wales.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Archie’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed, and his legacy will live on in our hearts.

New Billboards now installed

Starlite dealStafford Rangers FC are delighted to announce that we’ve signed a commercial deal with Starlite Outdoor that will see 3 x billboards measuring 6m x 3m installed on the car park for up to 7 years. As part of the deal, SRFC will be able to advertise on one of the billboards for up to 28 days per year for free.

The deal also allows the Club to switch to a 6m x 3m illuminated LED sign when the market improves and if both parties agree.

Planning permission for an illuminated LED sign was approved in September 2023 following the Club’s successful planning appeal against Stafford Borough Council’s refusal of the original planning application. The Club has until September 2028 to install an LED sign under the current planning permission.

The deal with Starlite Outdoor continues the Club’s association with Anastasi family. The director of Starlite Outdoor is Chris Anastasi, his father Savvas Anastasi played for Stafford Rangers in the late 1980s to early 1990s.

The Club are delighted to continue our relationship with the Anastasi family, and we hope to see them at Stafford Rangers games in the future.

If anyone is interested in advertising on the billboards, please contact Chris Anastasi.

For all other advertising and sponsorship enquires please contact Roy Sales or Tel: 01785 602430 Option 3.

Message to all fans

Message to all fans

A heartfelt thank-you for your support

We appreciate it has been an exceedingly difficult season on the pitch and we have tried our utmost, to avoid relegation keeping hopes alive until the penultimate game of the season. We are personally gutted and share the disappointment felt by every supporter. We all share the same hopes and dreams whether you are on the pitch, in the dugouts, stand or terraces. It hurts and no one likes it. We have learned a great deal during the 23/24 campaign and must ensure that we change and move forward.

What has been unwavering is the total support of fans who have continued to follow the team home and away all season. We cannot thank you enough and are humbled by your commitment, loyalty and passion.

We would also like to thank the numerous unsung heroes who volunteer week in, week out, to ensure this fabulous club is able to function professionally on match-days and all those members of staff that go the extra mile to deliver match-day experiences and functions, that contribute to the financial stability of the club.

Next season will produce its own challenges on and off the pitch, but the work has already started to ensure we retain and recruit the right players with the passion and desire to ensure we are competitive and successful in a new league.

We want to ensure the team will be capable of providing an attacking and entertaining brand of football to retain and increase levels of support, but moreover bring pride back to the club in abundance.

Thank-you and Up The Boro.
