Introducing our Sponsor for the Stalybridge Celtic game

Pete Wooding

A big welcome to our Match sponsor for the game against Stalybridge Celtic, Pete Wooding and his guests.

Peter is the type of person who reinforces just why we are all passionate about non-league football.

At 87 years young he is normally found on matchdays in the draughty programme hut trying to sell out our matchday programme come rain or shine, but his relationship with the Rangers goes back a long way.

Born in Wellingborough, Northants he has been a regular supporter since 1967. Pete comes from a family of six and has been living in Stafford since 1958 after marrying a Stafford girl Margaret who he lost when she was only 53. Pete has 2 sons and 2 grandchildren.

After 5 years at RAF 16MU as an instructor he joined BRC Engineering at Lichfield Road, Stafford firstly as a spot welder and then as an instructor teaching and mentoring new employees. He was to stay with BRC for 32 years until the factory closed. A few part time jobs followed until he officially retired in 1995.

Pete sponsors todays match and is joined in the Chairmans Suite by his partner of the last 22 years Mavis, his son & daughter in law Nigel and Karen and grandson Josh together with 4 guests.

Between 1969 and 1982 Pete was part of a Development Committee at SRFC raising funds for the club through Lotto, Match Raffles and running coaches to away games during the Wembley years. In one golden year in the 70’s they raised £17,000 of much needed revenue. Pete’s earliest memory of an SRFC game was in November 1957 when he watched us beat Elsmere Port 2-1 in the Cheshire League in front of 120 fans. His favourite memory was at Oxford in 1972 when we played Yeovil in the FA Trophy Semi final winning 3-0 in front of a huge crowd which he remembers as a ‘joyful happy day.’

Pete wants only the best for his beloved Rangers and wants to see us win this league and progress in the National league and he believes this is important as ‘Success brings a smile to the faces of Stafford people’ but urges fans to be patient.

Whilst Pete doesn’t go so often to his favourite holiday destination of Benidorm these days, he is a constant ray of sunshine at Marston Road driven by his mantra of ‘Be Happy and have great friends around you’.

We are so lucky to be surrounded by people like Pete and we wish him, Mavis, family, and friends a wonderful day and thank them for their support as todays Match Sponsors.

U18’s Next Game

U18’s Next Game

Stafford Rangers U18s V AFC Wulfrunians U18s

The next game for the U18’s is scheduled at Marston Road for Monday 7th November KO 7.45 pm and we look forward to welcoming our opponents.

Admission Prices for all fans (Adults, Concessions & U16’s) will be £5.00 across the board. Under 16’s will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

A strict Challenge 25 policy will be operating within the social club. The social club will not be accessible from within the ground. No alcohol will be allowed on the ground whatsoever. For clarity no drinks will be able to be taken from the bar onto the ground.

We are saddened to say we again saw unacceptable behaviour at last Monday’s game with a small group of youths ejected from the ground using awful language and conduct that is totally unacceptable to the club. It is disappointing that we have to tell all fans once more, that this type of behaviour is not just unacceptable to the club, but you bring shame to your community.

Stafford Rangers will be implementing certain changes on the night that reinforces once more our commitment to stamp this out and will if necessary be taking swift action to enforce good behaviour and protect fans and staff. This will have a financial impact on the club.

This is not the type of message we want to put out. We have worked long and hard to set up our Academy at the club and the U18’s is a fundamental part of that structure. We are committed to playing our part in putting football and education at the heart of our community.

If you are at the game to support either team thank you and have a great night.

Notice to Fans

Important Message

At the recent home game against Guiseley, we had an incident of coin throwing onto the pitch.

This behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances and the club has already had to answer to the Legal & Governance Division of the League and explain the circumstances and our actions.

Further episodes of this type of behaviour could result in your club facing severe disciplinary action.

We ask fans to help us identify any individuals or groups who are not acting properly and bring to the attention of all, our behaviour policy which is clearly shown on the website.

The vast majority of our fans behave impeccably but for any individuals who don’t want to act in a sensible and respectful way our message is clear- we don’t want you stay away!

Stafford Rangers prides itself on being part of the community help us to ensure that pride is never at risk.

Thank-you.

U18’s Next Game

Under 18s in Action

Stafford Rangers U18s V Rushall U18s

On Monday the 31st October the U18 Squad host our visitors Rushall U18’s in the Midland Floodlit League, for what should be a great game.

Gates will be open from 6.30pm and admission prices are Adults £3.00 and U16’s £1.00, all fans will need to pay on the gate.

The Jon Downing Suite bar will also be open to fans from 6.30 pm but access will only be available once fans have entered through the turnstiles and can then enter the Social Club into the JD suite from inside the ground.

Please be aware that there will be no drinking outside and we will as usual be operating a strict Challenge 25 policy in the social club.

Our U18’s have been doing us proud on the pitch but at the last game played against Haughmond FC we experienced bad behaviour for the 2nd time by a small number of younger fans off the pitch.

If your intent on coming to these games is to cause trouble, we don’t want you and please stay away.

We have a strict behaviour policy and we have no intention of putting up with anyone causing trouble. If identified that you are in breach of any of the standards that this club works tirelessly to deliver you will be ejected from the ground and reported to the Police.

To those fans who support both the U18’s so brilliantly we welcome you all once more to Marston Road and hope for another great night.

Thank-you

Up the Boro
