Jake Charles Moves On

We can announce that Jake Charles will be joining Farsley Celtic, in Vanarama National League North. With the club being a few miles from Jake’s Leeds home and being a division higher, the decision was quite a draw, especially in the current climate.

Although Jake’s contract with Rangers had expired, Farsley had the decency to approach us for permission to speak with Jake, so we thank them for their conduct over the matter and we wish Jake the very best for the future and thank him for his service. 27 goals in 71 appearances made Jake a favourite with many fans. All the best, Jake!

Squad Announcement

While the Management Team are in discussions with the squad, we can make our first announcement. Four players have been released and the club would like to place on record our thanks for their commitment and effort during their time with us.

Joe Berks, Paul Bignot, Jazz Luckie and Jack Sherratt all leave with our thanks and we wish them all the best, for the future.

Boro Back Banim for top job!

Stafford Rangers are delighted to announce that Jody Banim has been appointed First Team Manager at the Boro with immediate effect. Banim has had a long and successful career in football both as a player and manager and relishes the challenge ahead of him. The club had a huge response in their quest to appoint a new first team manager and the conclusion of the extensive process, now ensures that another part of the jigsaw puzzle at Marston Road is put in place, ahead of the new season.

Director of Football, Andy Fearn comments: “Jody just impressed us from the start with his enthusiasm and knowledge of the game, at our level and above. We believe he is the right man at the right time. He has demonstrated in his management career an ability to rise to challenges and we welcome him on our journey.”

Jody has extensive experience in the Northern Premier league and above and excellent contacts with players in the North West and the Midlands. Rangers’ fans will hope he can bring in some exciting new players to mirror his own prolific goal scoring record from his former playing days.

He will be joined by a Boro favourite Matt Hill who joined Stafford Rangers in January 2019 and takes over the role as Assistant First Team Manager. The pair first met when Hill was playing for Ashton under Banim and the Board believe that this new partnership has great potential. The two have already established a good working relationship and an appetite to play exciting winning football. Hill is well respected in the dressing room as well as outside it and holds substantial coaching experience. He knows the club well and has the respect of players and fans. He has played at every level of football and his transition from player into management looks a great fit alongside manager Jody Banim.

For over 3 seasons Jody was first team manager at Ashton United leading the club to promotion to the National League North in 2017/18 against all expectations, but driven by his burning desire to win.

He states: “Stafford Rangers are a massive football club and our objective is clear. We want and will bring back the glory days and we are proud to be part of the Boro. We have seen, during lockdown, the passion and the enthusiasm that fans have shown in supporting so magnificently the ‘Stand Together’ campaign and we want to be part of it.”

Whilst Jody saw success at Ashton he left at the end of 2019 after some difficult results but learned a lot saying: “No matter what budget you have I learned that the balance of the squad has to be right, but it’s a results business and you have to accept that’.”

Since leaving his old club Jody took some time out to reflect and work at honing his management and tactical skills and believes he is ready to step up. Outside of football he is involved in Sport Coaching & Education which focuses on youth and development. He is a qualified FA level 2 coach and currently UEFA B candidate which he is taking with Manchester FA. The lockdown period has been a very negative time for many football clubs and businesses but Rangers have bucked the trend reinventing themselves, raising substantial amounts of money through fans support and putting themselves in a position to bounce back with intent.
Andy Fearn concludes: “We are delighted with the appointments of both Jody and Matt. So many people have worked very hard to make sure we are still here and I ask fans to come together now, get behind the new management team and look forward to an exciting journey together.”
