Club News – Great News

Club News – Great News

As you all know we set an original target of £50,000 to secure the clubs survival. This was an ambitious target to offset the effects of the Coronavirus challenges and the financial position the club was already in.

We hoped to raise £25,000 from our fans initiatives and support and £25,000 from the Government Grant. The government Grant has already been received.

You amazing fans have now supported the club to the sum of £42,442.00 a fantastic achievement so what’s next?

We have now set ourselves another very ambitious aim of trying to make the club debt free and ensure our future. To do this we need to raise at least an additional £90,000 of incremental finance which is on top of all our usual revenue streams. We will be reviewing all aspects of the running the club and will be launching some very exciting fund raising initiatives to new and existing corporate customers and sponsors.

Your continued support and involvement will still be vital so if you want to support but haven’t done so yet please visit the website to see how you can get involved. We want this truly to be a supporter’s owned club and our aim is that fans own at least 90% of SRFC.

We are in the process of putting together a Business Development Plan which will form the structure of our medium and long term strategy driving the club forward in a disciplined and controlled manner. Our vision and determination is to ‘Make Stafford Rangers the best club in non- league football both on and off the pitch.’

The search for a new manager is well under way and we have had a large number of applications. We are now approaching the final phase and if necessary video conferencing interviews will be taking place soon as we identify a short list of new managers able to drive us forward on the pitch. This has been an extensive and proper process and reflects the changes in procedure and openness that we are changing in all other aspects of the club. We are determined to do it right!

The football club has demonstrated that we can and will Stand Together despite a great degree of different opinions both on and off the pitch. As we move forward we ask you to accept, recognise and welcome that change is happening, we are listening and we must, as things evolve, accept that we can’t please everyone all the time.

We seek to do our best and ask that we now ‘Come Together’ as we step in to phase two and try to achieve our vision.

Thank you!

Terry Eade – R.I.P

We have been informed of the passing of former player, Terry Eade. Terry was a member of our Cheshire League side during the sixties and played alongside the likes of Les Box and Billy Frew.

Terry was 81 and had suffered dementia. We pass on our condolences and best wishes to all of Terry’s family and friends at this sad time.

Message from John Bromley

Message from John Bromley

I would personally like to thank all supporters who have dug deep into their pockets to help Stafford Rangers Football Club. It just shows what a fantastic group you are – either by buying shares or making donations to your club. Through you we have raised over £30,000 so far and the figure is still rising. As chairman, I find this all overwhelming and absolutely wonderful. I could not wish for better.

Although the job is not yet done, now, with your generous support, we can hopefully begin to resurrect and rebuild the club to its former glory. So, once again I thank you from the bottom of my heart, for the faith you have shown in me since I became your chairman. I will do my utmost for you next season.

You are simply the best!

John Bromley

We are saddened to hear the passing of Alf Wood

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Alf Wood. Alf was 74 and had suffered ill health for a number of years. He marked himself down in club folklore by scoring the  last 2 goals of his career at Wembley as we beat Kettering Town 2-0 in the 1979 FA Trophy Final.

Our thoughts and best wishes go to all of Alf’s Family and Friends at this sad time. R.I.P Alf.
