Next Game Up

Cancel all those plans!

Whatever you had planned for Saturday put them on ice and come down to one of the biggest games of the Season as Stafford Rangers take on South Shields at Marston Road on Saturday the 5th March KO 3pm.

This was postponed from its original date of the 27th November 2021 and after the unbeaten run of 11 games is now a must win game to ensure we maintain traction in our target of the play offs.

South Shields currently sit at the top of the NPL Premier Division and remain the side to beat on 63 points. Rangers currently sit in 9th position with 48 points but have upset top teams all season. The visit to Marston Road for our opposition will not be an easy one with the strength of squad we currently enjoy and the passion and resilience our team is showing. Rangers also currently sit 3rd in the Form Guide behind Mickleover and Buxton. We look forward to welcoming the players, management and directors from South Shields and providing a very warm welcome.

If you bought a ticket on line through our box office for the 27th November game (and have not requested a refund) your ticket will of course be valid for this game. You can buy a ticket for this game through our box office match tickets. You will of course be able to pay on the gates but buying a ticket on line will enable fast access into the ground.

We expect a large crowd and encourage fans to get to the ground early and the gates will be open from 12 noon. Hedges Catering will be selling food in the ground as usual from 12.15. The social club will only be accessible once you have entered the ground and the Jon Downing suite and members bar will be open. The fans bar will also be open from 1.30pm.

Stafford Rangers is ‘more than just a football club’ and just before the game we will be having one minute’s applause in support of the people in Ukraine.

Also for this game we will not be selling 50/50 tickets. Instead we will be collecting donations and all proceeds will be donated to The Disasters Emergency Relief Charity for the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal; the DEC charities provide food, water, shelter and healthcare to refugees and displaced families and we know that this is something that everyone wants to do at this current time, to demonstrate our support. Every £ raised will be matched by HMG.

On Saturday we will be welcoming the following to our Chairman’s suite;-

Match Sponsor- Michael Lee & guests.
Ball Sponsors- Jeff Eaton & guests (Brocton Vets)
Sponsors – Tim Haywood (Traction Equipment) & Liam Barnett and Jason Roberts from Harlequin Teamwear

This should be a game with a great passionate atmosphere as we try and drive forward and we want to make some noise to ensure all our squad can clearly hear the support they have. How far can we go? Whilst nothing is certain we have a hunger for it and a squad that has depth, strength and the potential to go all the way.

We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday for what should be a great game.

The support we have so far this season has been fantastic and we thank you all for standing by us as we all unite in standing by Ukraine.

Jon Moran leaves Marston Road

Jon Moran

It has been confirmed that the injury to Jon Moran is season long and possibly beyond, so we have therefore mutually agreed to terminate Jon’s contract with SRFC.

Jon has been immense for us over the past three years or so, but has suffered this season with a succession of injuries and illness. This has severely limited his time on the pitch. He will be greatly missed, but Jon needs a fresh challenge, when he is back to full fitness.

He will always be welcome at Marston Rod and goes with our best wishes for a full recovery and return to the game.

All the best Jon.

Don’t Let This Opportunity Slip By

Over a week ago we posted an opportunity for fans to nominate themselves for the position of Fans Rep, to ensure supporters had a direct voice into the club.

Disappointingly we have currently no applications so far, with a closing date of close of business this Friday, the 25th February. As we stated we are looking for a minimum of 3 applications from fans resulting in a social media vote, so all fans can support their preferred candidate.

We are eager to ensure that a Fans Rep will liaise with us to ensure we can improve further, our communication to everyone connected with the club and help us identify any issues that are important to all our supporters that we haven’t identified. We will then communicate directly to the Board using the platform of the BDG (Boro Development Group).

There is still time to get your applications in by email to david.montgomery@ggcltd.com or call him on 07774 198835 if you have any queries, regarding any aspect of this role.

It is important that you don’t let this opportunity slip by.

You can and will make a difference.
