STAFFORD RANGERS V ATHERTON COLLIERIES

STAFFORD RANGERS V ATHERTON COLLIERIES

TUESDAY 27th OCTOBER 2020
KICK OFF 7.45PM

Tickets for this league game are still available online until midnight tonight. Atherton have taken an allocation of 30 tickets agreed by clubs and within the guidelines set by the NPL. We will be selling tickets to Stafford Rangers fans only who haven’t purchased through our ticketing system on the gate, but fans need to recognise that once again we have a maximum permitted gate of 600.

Gates will open at 6.30pm and close at 7.45 sharp. Gate A will open for Season Tickets, C for concessions and all online tickets and others will go through the main gate where tickets will be scanned as usual.

All fans are recommended to wear face coverings within the ground, but they must be worn by everyone in the stand at all times. The social club will be open, but we ask you to be patient as we deal with table service. Whilst we do not anticipate a maximum gate, we must do what we can to keep fans safe. Your patience will be needed whilst we still operate within the restrictions placed on us. The social club will close at 9.30pm and no access will be permitted after this time.

We had several instances from a small minority of fans on Saturday who seemingly would not respond to requests from stewards. There was also a couple of instances of totally unacceptable abuse of stewards and we are looking at these issues closely and will take action to ban offenders.

Please can you log into the venue using the NHS QR codes displayed around the entrance.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back as we return to our league programme.

Stafford Rangers next game in the Emirates FA Cup 4th Round Qualifying tie will be played on Saturday at Marston Road.

We were originally going to provide an allocation of 90 tickets to Skelmersdale but as the area has now moved into Tier 3 Covid -19 restrictions this means fans will not be allowed to travel to Stafford and not be allowed tickets. Our sympathy goes to the Skelmersdale supporters but everyone’s health comes before everything.

All fans attending this game need to take personal responsibility for their actions and social distancing to ensure they keep their fellow fans safe and play their part in helping to ensure that football matches can be played at Marston Road.

The serious increase in numbers must now be of huge concern to us all. Governments and local authorities can bring out instruction and legislation but only we can take action to minimise the transmission of this disease. Stafford Rangers football club has one priority and that is to keep everyone safe. Please read all our messaging, listen to our stewards and ensure distancing and group of 6 policy is adhered always. We actively steward the ground for your safety and if anyone doesn’t play their part and fails to comply with a request they run the risk of being removed from the ground.

We recommend that everyone wears face coverings throughout the stadium at all times but this is mandatory in the stand and accessing bars or toilets. Use hand sanitisers regularly and give everyone around you space distance and respect.

We thank all fans for everything they have done so far to assist the club in making the matches safe. Up the Boro and enjoy the game!

NEW SIGNING

Rangers signed Taylor Allen prior to last nights game at Sutton Coldfield. Taylor is currently playing for Rangers under 18’s side and has impressed Manager Neil Kitching in training. The 17 year old made his first team debut last night in the Integro Cup match.

EMIRATES FA. UP WIN

Rangers progressed through to the 3rd Qualiying Round of the Emirates FA Cup after a 1-0 win over local rivals Tamworth. A goal from Izak Reid was enough to see the Boro through. Everybody’s eyes will now be on the draw for the next round on Monday lunch time.

With Rushall Olympic replaying their tie on Tuesday night Rangers will be without a mid week fixture. The home fixture scheduled for Saturday 30th September against Altrincham is also a victim of Rangers progress in the cup.

A well deserved break then unti next Saturday when we make the trip to Shaw Lane.

Match Report: Peterborough Sports 3-4 Stafford Rangers.

Rangers came up against a lively and determined opposition in this FA Cup opener. Sports showed their intent from the off and in only the third minute, Josh Moreman attacked down the left where he fad Mark Jones and his first effort was saved by Whitehouse and his follow up hit the bar. Rangers briefly responded but Gregory’s effort was way over.

On six minutes Moreman again fed Jones from the left and as he turned inside curled a shot into the far corner to give the hosts the lead. Rangers again responded with a weak effort as Langston went well wide but it was Sports who carried the danger, with Moreman, Jones and Viera being a constant threat. On 31 Geohaghon was booked for a block on Viera and Sports couldn’t capitalise on the free kick. Sherratt then had Rangers first serious effort as he forced Butcher into a double save. Moreman ensured Sports finished the half on top as he fired wide from 20.

The second half started at a higher pace but now it was Rangers forcing the issue. Westwood and Bailey both had early chances blocked before Gregory picked up and found the bottom corner from 20 yards to level. Rangers continued to make it a game of two halves as Gregory, Sherratt and Westwood all came close as Rangers piled it on. On 68 minutes with the hosts under more pressure, Batchelor pounced on the ball and slotted home from six yards to give Boro a deserved lead. The game was never going to be a foregone conclusion, with both teams going for it.

On 77 Lewis Webb rose unchallenged at the back post to draw things level again then on 84, Dan Lawlor was booked for a foul, some way outside Spirts’ box and Jack Langston stepped up to curl a free kick in off the post for 3-2. Sports again hit back and attacked from the restart and the dangerous Moreman levelled things again! With both teams capable of snatching something it was Boro who came strong at the end and Batchelor again popped up to seal the result and send the travelling band home happy.
